Box Score San Antonio - The 10th-ranked Trinity women's
soccer team opened its campaign with an 8-0 shutout of the
Concordia Tornados Thursday night.
Trinity, which scored five second-half goals, was paced by
first-year forward Stephanie Segovia (Buda, Texas/Hays) who
registered a hat trick. Segovia scored with 44 seconds remaining in
the first half, and then put in a goal 2 minutes, 34 seconds into
the second stanza. Her final score of the night came in the 72nd
minute of play.
Also scoring were senior midfielder Kristina Chen (Houston/Clear
Brook), sophomore forward Shelby Guenthardt (Winter Springs,
Fla./Winter Springs), junior forward Annie Kendzior (Southlake,
Texas/Carroll), first-year midfielder Emily Jorgens (Austin,
Texas/Westwood), and first-year midfielder Hannah Kuhl
(Austin/Austin High). Segovia assisted Kull with her goal in the
68th minute.
Senior All-America forward Abigail Loar (Littleton,
Colo./Heritage) accounted for three assists in the game, also
adding three shots on goal.
Trinity led Concordia 37-0 in total shots - including 18 shots
on goal in the contest.
Up next for the Tigers is defending NCAA Division III champion
Hardin-Simmons, at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Cowgirls edged the Tigers
2-1 in last year's NCAA second round.
