San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers men's soccer team registered its third shutout in as many games with a 3-0 victory Monday over the Texas-Tyler Patriots.
 
Trinity (3-0-0) won the rematch with the Patriots, following up last year's NCAA Division III second round. The game ended in a 0-0 tie, and the Tigers advanced to the third round by leading 4-2 on penalty kicks.
 
Tiger sophomore forward Brian Hines led the way with two goals on Monday, scoring one in each half. Hines put one past the goalie in the 25th minute to give Trinity the 1-0 advantage at halftime, assisted by sophomore midfielder Darren McAfee and junior midfielder Nima Naderi.
 
The first half was a defensive effort by both teams, as neither the Tigers or the Patriots had many shots.

Hines recorded his second goal of the game in the 60th minute, on an assist from junior midfielder Kyle Porter. Naderi finished up the game's scoring, firing in a penalty kick in the 72nd minute.
 
Junior goalkeeper Tim Nelin accounted for two saves in the shutout victory.
 
Next up, the Tigers travel to UT-Dallas, at Richardson, Texas, for weekend games. Trinity takes on Hardin-Simmons on Friday, and UT-Dallas Saturday.
 
Trinity's next home game will Friday, Sept. 16, when the Tigers host the University of Redlands.
