Tiger Women Defeat UT-Dallas Friday Night

Box Score

San Antonio - The seventh-ranked Trinity women's soccer team scored two second-half goals to earn a 2-0 shutout of the University of Texas-Dallas Comets on Friday night.

Trinity (5-0-0) was held scoreless despite 10 shots in the first half of play, but the Tigers broke through with a goal less than 10 minutes into the second period.  Trinity then added an insurance goal in the 84th minute to seal the shutout victory.

It was the fourth shutout of the season for the Tiger defense, and the third game in a row without allowing a goal.

First-year midfielder Emily Jorgens knocked in the eventual game-winner in the 54th minute, assisted by senior forward Kelly Watts.  Watts got off a shot that was saved initially, but not controlled, and Jorgens was there for the goal.

First-year goalkeeper Devan Osegueda chalked up two saves to earn her second shutout of the season.  She has yielded just one goal in nearly 350 minutes of action this season.

Trinity will host the University of Texas-Tyler on Sunday afternoon at 12:00 p.m., finishing off the weekend's action.
