Irving, Texas - Trinity's women's soccer team
earned a 7-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference over the
University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers are now 11-1-2 overall this season, and 7-0-0 in SCAC
play. The team also Trinity finishes off its conference
schedule on Friday, hosting Southwestern University at 6:00
p.m.
Lauren Henderson and Shelby Guenthardt had two goals each to
lead the Tigers, while Emily Jorgens finished with a goal and three
assists.
Guenthardt netted the first two goals of the game in the ninth
and 11th minutes, and Jorgens picked up both assists. The
second goal for Guenthardt was the eventual game-winner, and also
tied her with Stephanie Segovia for the team lead with 11 goals
this season.
Jorgens also assisted on the next goal, which was the second of
the season for Mariah Risk, and came in the 15th minute of today's
game. That gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead at the half.
The second half was Henderson's time to shine, scoring twice in
less than 15 minutes to put Trinity ahead 6-0 at the time.
Her first came less than three minutes into the second half on an
assist from Katy Lipscomb. Henderson's second was assisted by
Kelsey Falcone in the 62nd minute.
Falcone also scored a goal of her own in between Henderson's two
goals. After Dallas broke up the shutout in the 80th minute
of play, Jorgens added her own goal with just four minutes
remaining. Kirby Peddicord earned the assist on the final
score of the game.
Goalkeeper Katie Garrett recorded a pair of saves in the game,
giving up just her seventh goal this season in 14 games
played.
