Trinity Finishes Regular Season With Win Over Austin College

Box Score

San Antonio - The Tiger football team wrapped up its regular season schedule with a 42-13 win over Austin College on Saturday afternoon of Trinity's Alumni Weekend.

Trinity finishes the regular season with a 7-3 overall record, the 'Roos for the 16th consecutive time.  The Tigers last lost to Austin College in 1993.

Patrick Granchelli led the team with 89 yards rushing in the game, pushing him over 2,000 yards in his career.  Granchelli is the ninth player in school history to reach the milestone, averaging 5.9 yards/carry in today's win.

Mason Blaschke accounted for five of Trinity's six touchdowns, with the Tiger defense picking up the sixth.  Blaschke completed 9-17 through the air for 230 yards and four touchdowns, as well as rushing for 44 yards and another score.

Austin College actually struck first in the game, taking advantage of a turnover in the first quarter to set up a three-yard score on its first play from scrimmage.  The Tigers answered quickly with a four-play drive that was capped by a 53-yard touchdown pass to tie the game.

Neither team scored again until early in the second quarter when Blaschke plunged across the goal line from a yard out.  Austin drove to the Trinity three yard line on its next drive, but the Tiger defense forced its first of two turnovers to stop the drive.

After the fumble, Blaschke then hit Mason Lytal for a 58-yard touchdown score to put the Tigers up 21-7, then after the defense held, the duo hooked up for another long score from 46 yards out.

Austin picked up the first score of the second half to make it 28-13, but once again, Trinity countered with a quick score from Blaschke to Matthew Kennemer.  The game's final score came on a fumble recovery in the Austin end zone, as defensive lineman Trevor Holt picked up the score.

Lytal finished with 104 yards and two touchdowns on his two catches, while Riley Walker picked up Trinity's first score on his only catch - the 53-yard strike that tied the game in the first quarter.

Nick Darling led Trinity with 13 tackles in the game, while Thomas Puskarich finished with 12.  Puskarich had three tackles for loss, while Darling picked up one of three sacks in the game for the Tigers.  Tomy Boboy increased his team-leading total to 9.5 sacks this season, picking up six total tackles on the day.
