Trinity Women's Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award

San Antonio - The Tiger women's soccer team has earned the prestigious Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2011-12 school year.

Trinity posted a team grade-point average of 3.85 during the 2011-12 academic year, which also featured the Tigers winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and advancing to the 2011 NCAA Playoffs.

The women's soccer program has earned the Team Academic Award 12 times since the 1999 season, which includes six consecutive years receiving the honor.  The minimum GPA for the honor is 3.0, as set by the NSCAA.

This season, Trinity won its fourth consecutive SCAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the fourth straight time.  The Tigers reached the second round of the playoffs, before being eliminated on penalty kicks.

Head Coach Lance Key has led the team to eight NSCAA Team Academic Awards in his nine seasons with the Tigers.  He has also helped the team to eight NCAA Playoff appearances and seven conference titles during his tenure.
