San Antonio - The Tiger women's soccer
team has earned the prestigious Team Academic Award from the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2011-12
school year.
Trinity posted a team grade-point average of 3.85 during the
2011-12 academic year, which also featured the Tigers winning the
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and advancing to the 2011
NCAA Playoffs.
The women's soccer program has earned the Team Academic Award 12
times since the 1999 season, which includes six consecutive years
receiving the honor. The minimum GPA for the honor is 3.0, as
set by the NSCAA.
This season, Trinity won its fourth consecutive SCAC
Championship and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the fourth
straight time. The Tigers reached the second round of the
playoffs, before being eliminated on penalty kicks.
Head Coach Lance Key has led the team to eight NSCAA Team
Academic Awards in his nine seasons with the Tigers. He has
also helped the team to eight NCAA Playoff appearances and seven
conference titles during his tenure.
