San Antonio – The Tiger women's
soccer team had six of its players earn All-Region honors, as
announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America.
Two of the Trinity players were named to the All-West Region
First Team, three on the Second Team, and one on the Third
Team. Trinity won its fourth consecutive Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the
fourth straight year in 2012, falling 7-6 on penalty kicks in the
Second Round.
Emily Jorgens and Kelsey Falcone both earned First Team honors
for the Tigers. Jorgens led Trinity with 18 assists this
year, and also earned a spot on the NSCAA All-America Second
Team. She was the SCAC Offensive Player of the Year, and has
earned First Team All-Region honors in each of her first two
seasons. Falcone earned First Team All-SCAC honors, and was
second on the team with 12 goals this year.
Forward Shelby Guenthardt, goalkeeper Katie Garrett, and
defender Kirby Peddicord were all named to the Second Team.
Guenthardt led Trinity and the SCAC with 20 goals this season,
scoring five of those goals in four postseason games. Garrett
led the SCAC in goals-against average (0.57), and was named the
SCAC Defensive Player of the Year. Peddicord anchored the
back line of a defense that recorded 13 total shutouts.
Senior midfielder Lindsay Euers was named to the Third Team, and
has earned All-SCAC honors each of her four seasons with the
Tigers.
Lance Key completed his ninth season as the Tiger women's
soccer head coach, having led the team to eight NCAA Playoff
appearances and seven SCAC titles in his career. Coach Key
came into the season in the top five in winning percentage (.860)
among active coaches in Division III.
