Box Score Kerrville, Texas - The Tiger women's golf team
is in fifth place after a rainy first round at the Schreiner Spring
Shootout on Monday afternoon.
Trinity trails hosting Schreiner University by just three
strokes, and is just seven strokes from the University of
Texas-Brownsville in third place. Concordia (TX) University
and the University of Texas-Tyler are leading the field with a
score of 337 after the first of two rounds in the tournament.
The Tigers combined to shoot 349 on the opening round of the
2012 spring season, and three indviduals were in the top 15.
Molly Zumbro led Trinity with her 84 on Monday, which put her 10th
overall.
Madison Wallender shot a 40 on the back nine to earn a score of
87 for the total round, finishing in 13th place. Just one
stroke behind her was Alessa Hutter in 14th place. Molly
McCarthy shot an opening-round 90 to tie for 17th individually,
while Julia Orrange shot 91 to come in tied for 21st.
Trinity's final tournament of the fall was the Alamo City
Classic, in which the Tigers finished fourth by a single stroke
behind Southwestern. Wallender was third individually,
highlighted by her opening-round 75 to take the lead after the
first day.
The Tigers will finish off the Schreiner Spring Shootout on
Tuesday, and will not be back in action again until the Jekyll
Island Invitational in mid-March.
