Box Score Georgetown, Texas - The Tiger women's golf team
held on for a third-place finish at the 2012 Southwestern
Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Trinity shot a second-round 346 on Tuesday afternoon, beating
St. Mary's (IN) College by four strokes for the third spot in the
standings. Mary Hardin-Baylor won the event by three strokes
over hosting Southwestern.
Molly Zumbro finished tied for fourth individually, shooting
82-83 over the past two days, and was just five strokes from
individual winner Karissa Speck of Southwestern.
Madison Wallender finished in a tie for 10th place with a total
score of 170 (82-88) for the tournament, while Julie Orrange and
Alessa Hutter both shot 177 overall.
Orrange shot 88-89 at the tournament, while Hutter's 86 on
Tuesday was five strokes better than her first-round score.
The two players were tied for 19th in the tournament. Molly
McCarthy shot 85-96 over the two-day event, finishing in a tie for
25th individually.
Trinity will be back in action at the end of the month,
competing in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
Championships in Tunica, Mississippi. The three-day event
will be held at the Tunica National Golf Course.
