Box Score Tunica, Mississippi - Trinity's women's golf
team is tied for fifth place after the opening round of the
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on
Friday.
The Tigers combined for a score of 336 after the first of three
rounds at the par-72 Tunica National Golf Course, which is the same
score as Oglethorpe. The two teams are just two strokes from
fourth-place Southwestern. Centre leads by 11 strokes over
Birmingham-Southern, followed by Rhodes in third with a 329.
Molly McCarthy paced Trinity's scoring on Friday, shooting an 80
to tie for fourth place individually after the initial round of
action. Madison Wallender and Julia Orrange both shot 84 to
tie for 16th place in the tournament.
Molly Zumbro fired an 88 to tie for 27th, and Alessa Hutter was
30th with a score of 91 on the day.
Trinity and the rest of the field will continue the three-day
event tomorrow morning, with the winner securing an automatic bid
to the NCAA Playoffs along with the conference title.
