Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's football team suffered
its second straight loss on Saturday evening, dropping a 49-28 game
against second-ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The Tigers fall to 2-2 on the season, after opening 2012 with
two consecutive wins. Prior to last week, Trinity had not
suffered a regular season loss since the 2010 season.
Trinity got off to a rough start in tonight's game, as Mary
Hardin-Baylor jumped out early with 21 first-quarter points.
The Tigers had two turnovers and a turnover on downs in the first
half of play, and UMHB added 21 more points in the second
quarter.
The Tigers got on the board with a touchdown early in the second
quarter to make it 21-7, but the Crusaders continued scoring, and
the game was never closer than that the rest of the game.
Trinity scored the only points of the third quarter to make it
42-14, then outscored UMHB 14-7 in the final quarter.
Hagen Kattner led all receivers with 119 yards and a touchdown
on five receptions, highlighted by a 65-yard catch-and-run on a
pass from Mason Blaschke. Blaschke was 2-3 for 77 yards
passing in the game.
Nykolas McKissic completed 17-29 through the air, accounting for
178 yards and one touchdown. McKissic also had 18 yards and
one touchdown on 15 rushing attempts, losing 33 yards on four
sacks.
Patrick Granchelli led Trinity with 49 yards rushing, while also
grabbing 38 receiving yards on three catches. Matthew
Kennemer added 52 yards on five receptions, while also returning
five kickoffs for 126 yards total.
Thomas Puskarich led Trinity with 11 tackles in the game, while
J.P. Sanchez and Zach Wright finished with seven stops each.
Tomy Boboy recorded the only sack of the game for the Tigers, while
Jamal Murray had a 56-yard interception return for a fourth-quarter
touchdown.
Trinity will remain at home for its next game, which will be
next Saturday against Rhodes College. Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m.
for the matchup between former Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference opponents.
