Men's Soccer Downs Austin College to Finish SCAC Weekend

Sherman, Texas – The 14th-ranked Trinity Tigers men's soccer team made a clean sweep of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road swing with a 3-0 victory over the Austin College Kangaroos Sunday afternoon.

Trinity, the defending conference champion, which has now won 11 straight games, improved to 13-2-1 and 7-2-0 SCAC. Austin College dropped to 3-9-3 and 3-6-2 SCAC. The Tigers beat the 'Roos 7-0 on Sept. 29 in San Antonio.

Todd Edwards scored the only goal of the first half, in the 32nd minute, and was assisted by Jeff Hayes. Jonny Lawson recorded his team-best 11th goal of the season, in the 56th minute, on an assist from Victor Araujo. Brad Carabajal scored the final goal of the matchup, in the 69th minute, as Araujo and Brian Hines combined for the assist. Araujo and Yuri Ribeiro share the Tigers lead in assists with eight each.

Goalkeeper Matt Cardone warded off three shots from the 'Roos, to mark his third solo shutout of the season.

The Tigers travel to Seguin, Texas, on Friday to take on Texas Lutheran in an SCAC game at 1:00 p.m.  Sunday's conference game at Schreiner, in Kerrville, Texas, begins at 3:00 p.m.
