Box Score Irving, Texas – The
23rd-ranked Trinity Tigers men's soccer team posted its
fifth straight shutout of the season with a 6-0 Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference win Friday over the University of Dallas
Crusaders.
Trinity, the defending conference champion, upped its record
to 7-2-1 and 5-1-0 SCAC. Dallas dropped to 5-5-1 and 1-4-1 SCAC.
The Tigers and Crusaders will play again on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7
p.m. at the McGinley Soccer Field.
The four first-half goals were scored within 10 minutes of
each other, beginning with
Jeff Hayes' goal in the
22
nd minute.
Yuri Ribeiro recorded
his team-best sixth assist of the season. Six minutes later,
Zac Treu put one past
the goalkeeper, on an assist from
Murray Fraser. Johnny
Lawson scored back-to-back goals, just two minutes apart. The first
came in the 31
st minute, and the assist was supplied by
Francisco
Vasquez. Lawson's second goal was assisted by
Raz Forsten.
Darren
McAfee hit a solo shot in the 56th minute, and
Ribeiro capped it off with a goal in the 61st
minute.
Trinity led 36-9 in total shots, and held a 14-1 advantage in
shots on goal. Tiger goalkeeper
Matt Cardone made the
save.
The Tigers continue their SCAC campaign Sunday against
Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo., at 2 p.m..
