Box Score Hanover, Indiana - The Trinity Tigers
women captured the team title of the Division III Cross Country
Pre-Nationals Invitational Saturday at Hanover College, while the
men's team finished 10th at the meet.
Trinity, ranked No. 9 in the nation, scored 44 points in the
meet, leading a field of 18 teams. Lewis College was runner-up with
73 points, St. Scholastica placed third (139), and DePauw was
fourth (153). The Tiger men scored 313 points to earn
the top 10 finish among 19 total teams.
Six of the Tiger women's runners placed in the top-35 of
the 6k race – of some 228 entrants - paced by Maddie
Murphy's fourth- place finish. Murphy ran the course in
22:24.39. Vanessa Moreno came in seventh, clocking in at 22:45.23.
Rosemary Steup posted a 10th-place finish, with a time of 22:52.43,
while Nicola Hill was 14th, at 23:03.40. Michelle Oberndorf crossed
the finish line in 18th place, at 23:15.20, and Jackie Newell
was 35th, with a time of 23:46.26. Jessica Pagano completed the
race in 65th place, at 24:35.11.
Chelsea Johnson of St. Scholastica was the women's
individual winner, with a time of 21:25.74.
The top Tiger men's finisher was Taylor Piske, who
completed the 8k event in 31st place (of 233 runners), posting
a time of 26:56.54. Gerardo Hernandez held the No. 49 slot, at
27:23.45. Phillip Flagg was 84th (27:57.23), and Tristan
Ashton placed 85th (27:58.15). Michael Leduc of Connecticut
College was the men's winner, with a time of 25:22.82.
Loras took the men's team title, with 66 points,
Manchester (85) was runner-up, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (91)
finished third.
Hanover will host the NCAA Division III Men's and
Women's Cross Country Championships on Nov. 23.
Part of the Tiger team competed Saturday in the Alamo City Duals
at San Antonio's Olmos Basin. Trinity's men are slated
to run in the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational at Live
Oak, Texas, on October 12. The Tiger women hit the road October 19
for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh meet at Winneconne,
Wisconsin.
Trinity's teams are led by Head Coach Derick Lawrence, and
Assistant Coach Emily Daum.
