Box Score Colorado Springs, Colorado - Trinity's
men's soccer team scored four goals in the second half to pull away
with a 5-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over
Colorado College on Sunday afternoon.
Trinity, ranked 23rd in the nation, improved to 8-2-1 and 6-1-0
SCAC. The Tigers began their SCAC road weekend last Friday with a
6-0 shutout over the University of Dallas at Irving, Texas.
Colorado College dropped to 6-4-2 and 4-2-0 SCAC after the loss to
Trinity.
Yuri Ribeiro fired in the first goal of the game, off a direct
free kick from 25 yards out in the 19th minute. But the
Colorado Tigers tied the game as Sean Parham scored on a header
just three minutes later.
Jonny Lawson broke the deadlock with the game-winner in the
49th minute, assisted by Victor Araujo. Araujo then scored
back-to-back goals, with the first coming in the 57th minute
on an assist from Simon Uribe. Araujo's second came on a
penalty kick in the 61st minute.
Four minutes later, the scoring combination was reversed, as
Uribe headed the ball past the keeper, on an assist from
Araujo.
Ribeiro is the team leader with 15 points this season, after
scoring four goals and dishing out seven assists this season.
Araujo has 13 points with a team-high five goals to go with three
assists.
The Tigers will conclude their regular season home schedule next
week, during the University's Alumni Weekend. Trinity hosts
the University of Dallas at 7:00 p.m. next Friday, and Colorado
College at noon Sunday.
