Box Score San Antonio - Tiger women's golf senior
Madison Wallender has been selected the SCAC Character &
Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week.
Wallender is Trinity's scoring average leader, and has
been a key player for the Tigers for the past four years. She is
the 2012-13 team captain, and during her
career, Wallender has finished in the top 10 at a
tournament on 10 different occasions.
In addition to playing golf for the
Tigers, Wallender is also an active member of both the
Trinity community and the San Antonio community. She is the
women's golf team's representative on the
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as a member of the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes and InterVarsity. She was accepted
into the Phi Sigma Pi honor fraternity,
and Wallender also joined the Spurs Sorority and the
International Club.
As a member of the SAAC, Wallender helped raise
$19,000 for Breast Cancer Research during a fundraiser at Trinity.
She has participated in several San Antonio area diabetes
fundraisers, and has proudly joined thousands in San
Antonio's Race for the Cure.
Wallender is also active in golf outside of her
participation in college athletics. She volunteers at First Tee San
Antonio, and was a volunteer caddie for the GVTC Golf Tournament.
In addition to working with the Wounded Warriors Project, she also
volunteered with the POW Golf Tournament.
Additionally, Wallender participated in a school
supplies drive for underprivileged children, and volunteers
regularly with both Habitat for Humanity and the Girl Scouts of
America.
