Tigers Second After First Round of Action at West Region Invitational

Georgetown, Texas - Trinity's women's golf team is in second place after Monday's action at the West Region Invitational, hosted by Southwestern University.

The Tigers shot a combined score of 326 as a team, trailing University of Texas-Tyler's first-round score of 320.  Five different individuals finished in the top 15 in scoring for Trinity.

Madison Wallender and Molly McCarthy were both tied for fifth place after shooting first-round scores of 81 on Monday.  Molly Zumbro and Brigette Lee were just one stroke back, and are tied for 11th individually.  

Playing as an individual, Madeline Moran shot an 83 in the opening round, and is currently tied for 15th place in the tournament.  Alessa Hutter shot an 88 to start her tournament, finishing in a tie for 31st place.

The Tigers will finish the tournament with 18 more holes tomorrow afternoon at Berry Creek Country Club.  Trinity is five strokes ahead of hosting Southwestern, and just six shots in front of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
