San Antonio - Trinity's eighth-ranked men's soccer team was shut out 2-0 in the season opener against Luther (IA) College on Friday evening.

The Tigers (0-1) lost their opening game for the first time since the 2009 season, despite holding a 15-6 advantage in shots taken.  

Trinity gave up both goals in the first half, with Luther scoring the eventual game-winner in the 19th minute.  Luther added the game's final goal with under seven minutes left in the period.

The Tigers turned up the pressure wtih 10 of their 15 shots in the second half, but could not find the back of the net.  

Luther's Peter Wright recorded seven saves to earn the victory for the Norse, while Matt Cardone finished with two saves for the Tigers.  

Trinity returns to action on Sunday night against the University of Puget Sound.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
