Box Score San Antonio – Two Tiger runners captured the Trinity-hosted Alamo City Opener Saturday morning at Olmos Basin Fields.
Vanessa Moreno won the 4k women's race with a time of 14:33.41, while Taylor Piske took top honors in the men's 6k event, clocking in at 19:43.77.

Both runners also beat the best times of the NCAA Division I competitors, from UTSA and the
University of the Incarnate Word. Christian Castaneda of the University of the Incarnate Word won the Division I women's race, at 14:41.61. Nathan Collier of UTSA took the men's, with a time of 19:48.19.
Seven Trinity women's entries, and five men, placed in the top-10 standings of the non-Division I category.
Maddie Murphy was runner-up to Moreno in the women's race, by a little over four seconds. Murphy crossed the finish line at 14:37.53. Rosemary Steup was third (14:48.45), Jackie Newell placed fourth (15:04.72), and Nicola Hill came in at No. 5 (15:15.67). Michelle Oberndorf (15:21.12) and Jessica Pagano (15:23.48) finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Gerardo Hernandez finished second to Piske in the men's race, posting a time of 19:57.92.
Tristan Ashton was fourth (20:10.20), Austin Brown (20:28.38) ran in sixth place, and Evan Epps (21:34.60) was 10th.
The Tiger men and women won the non-Division I team titles. The University of the Incarnate
Word won the women's Division I nod, while UTSA took the men's.
Trinity will compete next at the Grass Routes Run Festival on Sept. 27, at Austin, Texas. The
Tigers will host the Alamo City Duals on Oct. 5, also at Olmos Basin.
