Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's men's soccer team
finished off its opening weekend of 2013 with a 1-0 victory over
the University of Puget Sound on Sunday night.
Victor Araujo fired in the game-winning goal in the 80th minute,
assited by Raz Forsten. His electrifying goal was the first
of the young season for the Tigers.
Trinity (1-1-0) fell 2-0 to Luther College in the season-opener
Friday night. Puget Sound dropped to 0-2-0 after Sunday's
loss, dropping a pair of 1-0 games to Southwestern and Trinity.
Roberto Camargo had two shots on goal, as did Yuri Ribeiro and
Emmanuel Raranje. Tiger goalkeeper Matt Cardone recorded the
shutout, along with posting five saves. Three of Cardone's
saves came in the first half of play.
Puget Sound keeper Nathan King accounted for nine saves in the
match-up, with four coming in the first half.
The Tigers outshot the Loggers 20-7 overall, with 10 shots on
goal, but were only able to find the net once.
Trinity travels to Abilene, Texas, next Friday to take on
Hardin-Simmons. The Tigers will meet UT-Dallas next Saturday, also
in Abilene.
The Tigers begin defense of their SCAC Championship by hosting
Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
