San Antonio - Trinity Tigers junior
goalkeeper Devan Osegueda has been elected the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the
Week.
Osegueda was instrumental in the Tigers two shutout victories at
home last weekend, over Texas-Tyler and Texas-Dallas.
Trinity's defense allowed only 11 total shots in the two
games.
The 5-foot-10 Osegueda recorded three saves in more than 150
minutes of playing time over the weekend, which included her first
shutout of the season. Against UT-Dallas, Osegueda made two crucial
saves, which kept the Comets off the scoreboard. Osegueda's
first save of the night came in a scoreless early in the match-up,
and her second was a spectacular dive which preserved the Tigers
1-0 lead.
Osegueda has recorded 17 saves this season, and has allowed only
three goals in six games. She has chalked up nearly 500 minutes of
playing time at the net.
Trinity opens defense of its SCAC Championship this weekend by
hosting two games, Texas Lutheran University at 6:00 p.m. Friday,
and Schreiner University at noon Sunday.
