Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's men's soccer team opened up a weekend of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 4-0 shutout of Texas Lutheran University on Friday night.
Trinity, which is ranked 25th in Division III, improved to 3-2-1 and 1-1-0 SCAC. Texas Lutheran suffered its first loss of the season, and now stands at 4-1-0 and 1-1-0 SCAC. The two teams will play again on Oct. 25 at Seguin, Texas.
First to light up the scoreboard for the Tigers was Brian Hines, in the 24th minute, as Francisco Vasquez dished out the assist. It marked the first goal of the season for Hines, and it also was the eventual game-winner.
Victor Araujo gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead with a powerful goal in the 33rd minute, assisted by MJ Kawamoto.
Yuri Ribeiro supplied assists for the Tigers final two goals of the match-up. Tom Carwile scored in the 70th minute, and was followed four minutes later on a goal by Zac Treu.
Trinity continues its SCAC weekend by hosting Schreiner at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
