Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's men's soccer team finished off the weekend with an 8-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Schreiner University on Sunday afternoon.
Trinity (4-2-1, 2-1-0 SCAC), the defending conference champion, registered a season-high in goals scored. The Tigers blanked Texas Lutheran 4-0 last Friday in the weekend opener. Schreiner dropped to 0-7-1 and 0-3-0 SCAC. Trinity and Schreiner will play again on Oct. 27 at Kerrville, Texas.
Tom Carwile and Brian Hines each scored two goals in the matchup. Carwile scored his goals in the first half of play, including the opener in the 15th minute, and the third (35th minute), which gave Trinity a 3-0 halftime lead. Hines put one past the keeper just two minutes after Carwile's first scoring play, and another in the 58th minute. The two Tigers share the lead in goals scored, with three each.
In addition to Hines, Simon Uribe, Johnny Lawson, Todd Edwards, and Darren McAfee lit up the scoreboard in the second half.
Yuri Ribeiro dished out three assists in the game, which gave him a team-leading season total of five.
Murray Fraser, Claudio Calistri, and Jeff Hayes each had two assists, while Jorge Villamarin added one.
Tiger goalkeeper Chad Margotta, who played for 32 minutes, accounted for two saves in the match-up.
Trinity dominated the shots department 40-4, and led 21-2 in shots on goal.
The Tigers will host two SCAC games next weekend, starting with Centenary at 8 p.m. Friday, and concluding with Austin College at 2 p.m. Sunday.
