Box Score San Antonio - The 22nd-ranked Trinity Tigers men's soccer team opened its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend schedule with an 8-0 victory over the Centenary College Gents on Friday night.
Trinity (5-2-1, 3-1-0 SCAC), the defending conference champs, also posted its third straight shutout, as well as tying a season-high in goals scored. The two teams will play again Oct. 18 at Shreveport, Louisiana.
Roberto Camargo scored his first two goals of the season within an eight-minute time span - including the eventual game-winner. Camargo lit up the board in the 12th minute, and scored his second goal in the 20th minute. Darren McAfee, Jeff Hayes, Goncalo Santana, and Raz Forsten were next up as Trinity took a 6-0 lead into halftime.
The two second-half goals came from Emmanuel Raranje and Brian Hines, within two minutes of each other. Hines took over the team lead with his fourth goal of the season.
Listed in the assists column were McAfee, Forsten, Santana, Johnny Lawson, Claudio Calistri, and Francisco Vasquez.
The Tigers pumped out 47 shots, and the stingy defense did not allow one. Trinity also took 23 shots on goal.
Trinity finishes up its SCAC weekend by hosting Austin College at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
