Box Score San Antonio - The 22nd-ranked Trinity Tigers men's soccer team recorded its fourth straight shutout with a 7-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Austin College Kangaroos on Sunday afternoon.
Trinity, the defending conference champion, improved its record to 6-2-1 and 4-1-0 SCAC. Austin College dropped to 2-6-1 and 2-3-0 SCAC.
Seven Tiger players scored a goal in Sunday's matchup, starting with Victor Araujo's in the 21st minute. His penalty kick turned out to be the only goal of the first half. Araujo posted his second game-winner and third goal of the season.
Trinity second-half goals began in the 56th minute, and continued until there were four minutes left on the clock. First to score was Darren McAfee, who put one past the keeper in a penalty kick. Then came goals from Jeff Hayes and Yuri Ribeiro, followed by a penalty kick by Goncalo Santana. Todd Edwards and Jorge Villamarin rounded out the Tigers scorers.
Assists were credited to Hayes, Santana, Zac Treu, Emmanuel Raranje, and Ben Kerley.
Starting goalkeeper Matt Cardone played for nearly 72 minutes, and accounted for two saves.
Trinity travels to Irving, Texas, on Friday for an SCAC contest with the University of Dallas at 2 p.m. Then it's on to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a Sunday conference matchup with Colorado College at 2 p.m. Mountain Time. The Tigers return home on Alumni Weekend for a Friday, Nov. 11, SCAC game with Dallas at 7 p.m.
