Trinity Tigers senior guard Robert Kitzinger has been
selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's
Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this
season.
Kitzinger lit up the boards in two SCAC road
victories last weekend over the University of Dallas and Colorado
College. With the wins, Trinity (11-7, 6-1 SCAC) is atop the SCAC
standings.
Kitzinger fired in a career-high 33 points on
Friday to lead the Tigers over the Dallas Crusaders. Kitzinger
followed that up with a 20-point performance Saturday against the
Colorado College Tigers.
Over the weekend, Kitzinger shot 75 percent
(9-12) from 3-point range. He now stands 21 3-point buckets away
from tying Rich Skeen's career record (set from 1990-1994).
Kitzinger was a sharp-shooter from the field as well, hitting 17-24
of his shots, for 70.8 percent.
Kitzinger had an incredible night against
Dallas, hitting 10-12 from the field, shooting 5-6 beyond the arc,
and sinking 8-8 free throws. He averaged 26.5 points per game,
along with pulling in 5.5 rebounds per matchup.
For the season, Kitzinger leads Trinity with
15.8 points per game, and is shooting 40.2 percent (80-199) from
the field. Kitzinger's 39 3-pointers are also a team best,
and he his connecting on 36.8 percent (39-106) from downtown.
Kitzinger is also shooting a team-leading 89.5 percent
(85-95) from the charity stripe.
Trinity wraps up its regular-season season home campaign next
weekend with two SCAC games against Dallas and Colorado College.
The Trinity-Dallas rematch is slated for 6:00 p.m. Friday, and the
Colorado College game will be played at 4:00 p.m.
