Box Score Sandestin, Florida - The Tiger
women's golf team shot a final-round 322 to finish eighth of
18 teams at the prestigious Golfweek DIII Fall Preview at the
Baytowne Golf Club on Tuesday.
Some of the best NCAA Division III teams in the nation
competed in the three-round event, which began on Sunday
morning.
Trinity completed the tournament with a 970
total at the par-72 course. The Tigers finished ahead of Centre
College (976), Illinois Wesleyan University (980), Methodist
University (981), Southwestern University (986), Schreiner
University (989), Berry College (1,012), Rhodes College
“B” team (1,019). Oglethorpe University (1,033), and
Birmingham-Southern College (1,099). Sewanee: University of the
South sent three players to compete as individuals.
Brigette Lee shot 6-over 78 for the Tigers, and
finished in a tie for 14th place (233) - moving up one spot from
her standing after the second round. Taylor Moser carded 85 (242)
and tied for the No. 27 slot. Hanna Niner posted an 80 (248) for a
tie at 46th, Shelby DeVore shot 81 (250) and tied for 50th, and
Alessa Hutter came in with an 83 (253), good for a tie at No.
58.
Connie Zhou of Washington University-St. Louis
won individual honors with a 3-over 75 on Tuesday, and a 221
total.
The University of Texas-Tyler (912) surged to
the lead to win the team tournament, while Washington-St. Louis
(919) finished as runner-up. Washington and Lee University (926)
came in at No. 3, NCAA champion Rhodes College (941) was fourth,
Whittier College (658) posted a No. 5 finish, Huntingdon College
(952) was sixth, and Carthage College (953) was right behind at No.
7.
Trinity wraps up its fall schedule October 20-21, hosting
the Alamo City Classic at San Antonio's Quarry Golf
Course.
