San Antonio - The second-ranked Trinity
Tigers swept the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
Women's Soccer Player of the Week accolades, as Maggie Olvera
and Hannah Booher took the honors.
Both players were instrumental in the Tigers two SCAC
shutout home wins over Austin College and the University of Dallas
last weekend. Olvera was named the Offensive Player of the Week,
and Booher earned Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
Olvera, a senior midfielder, finished with three
goals and four assists over the two games. She accounted for nearly
half of the Tigers goals in the two victories. Olvera scored a goal
and chalked up three assists in the game with Austin College.
Against Dallas, Olvera scored two first-half goals which propelled
the Tigers to victory.
This season, Olvera is third on the team with
nine goals (one game-winner) and has accounted for nine
assists, for a total of 27 points.
Booher, a first-year midfielder, and her Tiger
teammates permitted only three shots over the weekend games.Trinity
has yielded just 12 total shots in conference play this year. The
Tigers also have recorded 12 clean sheet games. Additionally,
Trinity has given up only six goals in 18 games.
Helping the offensive cause, Booher scored a
goal in the Austin College game. For the season, Booher has scored
two goals and made one assist in 17 games.
Trinity (17-0-1, 11-0-0 SCAC) has won 16
consecutive games. The Tigers final regular-season matchup will be
Friday, as Trinity hosts Southwestern University in an SCAC game at
7:00 p.m. Trinity's seniors will be honored prior to the
game.
The defending champion Tigers have also secured
the top-seeded slot for the SCAC Championship, to be hosted by
Trinity November 7-9.
