Trinity Men Headed to UT-Dallas for Opening Rounds of NCAA Playoffs

San Antonio - The second-ranked Tiger men's soccer team opens play in the 61-draw NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship at the University of Texas-Dallas on Saturday.

Trinity (21-1-0) will play Hardin-Simmons University (9-4-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in Richardson, Texas.  The 24th-ranked University of Texas-Dallas (13-4-3) team hosts Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (14-5-1) in Saturday's opening game at 5:00 p.m. The second round is slated for 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

The Tigers beat Hardin-Simmons 2-1 in overtime on September 5 at Georgetown, Texas. UT-Dallas handed Trinity its only loss of the season, by a score of 2-1, the following day.

Trinity is competing in its 13th consecutive NCAA Championship. Last season, the Tigers edged Wartburg College 2-1 in a double-overtime Sweet 16 game at Dubuque, Iowa. Host Loras College then beat Trinity 2-1 in the quarterfinals. Head Coach Paul McGinlay guided the Tigers to the 2003 NCAA Championship, as well as a second-place finish in2007.

The Tigers qualified for this year's national event by winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship by a score of 2-1 over Colorado College at Seguin, Texas, this past Sunday.
