Box Score Claremont, California - The Tiger men's
basketball team team couldn't hold onto a five-point halftime lead,
as Pomona-Pitzer Colleges rallied for a 63-59 victory at the SCIAC
Classic on Saturday night.
Trinity (0-4) fell 64-54 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Colleges on Friday night to open the weekend's action.
Pomona-Pitzer evened its record at 1-1.
Jimmy Clark scored a game-high 15 point to lead
four Tigers in double figures tonight. Clark shot 4-6 from
the field, and sank 6-6 free throws. Matt Selling added 14 points
on 4-9 shooting beyond the arc, along with pulling down six
rebounds. A.J. Pulliam contributed 13 points, and Josh Ingram
scored 12, hitting 5-9 from the field. Craig Saltarelli dished out
six assists, and William Young produced five.
The Tigers held a 32-27 halftime advantage, and
led by as many as seven points (34-27), on two free throws by Clark
at the 18:35 mark in the second half. Trinity held the lead until
Pomona-Pitzer pulled ahead 39-38 with 14:05 remaining. The game
remained tight, and the Tigers tied it at 54-54 at 4:02 on a layup
by Ingram. But the Sagehens outscored the Tigers 9-5 in the final
minutes of play to pull away with the win.
Hunter Lowry and Michael Cohen each scored 13
points to pace Pomona-Pitzer.
Trinity shot 38 percent, and Pomona-Pitzer made
42 percent of its shots. The Sagehens led 43-31 in total rebounds,
and 17-8 on offensive boards.
The Tigers will take on NCAA Division II member St.
Edward's University November 25 in an exhibition game at
Austin, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Trinity returns home December 18 to
host Whitworth University.
