Box Score San Antonio - Trinity Tigers
senior midfielder Simon Uribe has been named the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Co-Defensive
Player of the Week.
Uribe played a major defensive role as the
second-ranked Tigers shut out Southwestern University 4-0 in
a SCAC home game, and wrapped up the regular-season schedule with a
2-0 win over the University of California-Santa Cruz in front of
the Trinity faithful.
The stingy Tiger defense allowed only seven
shots on goal in the two matchups. Uribe contributed to the
offensive cause by scoring the game-winning goal in the 20th minute
against Southwestern.
Uribe has played and been a starter in 19 games
this season. Trinity has now recorded four straight shutouts, and
12 overall.
Trinity (19-1-0, 14-0-0 SCAC), which has won 16
consecutive games, will defend its SCAC title this weekend at Texas
Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. The top-seeded Tigers
received a bye into the semifinals of the SCAC Championship, and
will meet the winner of No. 4 University of Dallas and fifth-seeded
Texas Lutheran at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. The winner takes on the
Colorado College/Southwestern-Schreiner University winner for the
championship at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
