Box Score Austin, Texas - The Tiger
men's basketball team continued its rough start to the season
in an 81-55 loss at Concordia University on Monday night.
Trinity remained winless at 0-5, while Concordia
upped its record to 3-1.
Tiger A.J. Pulliam scored a team season-high 16
points, shooting 3-4 from the field, and sinking 10-12 free throws.
Pulliam also led the game with seven rebounds and two steals. Matt
Selling added 11 points and six rebounds.
Josh Sanchez of scored 17 points, and Donovan
Ford added 12 for Concordia.
The Tigers held a slight 9-8 lead with 16:28
remaining in the first half, but were outscored 36-20 the rest of
the way, and Concordia led 44-29 at halftime. Trinity could get no
closer than 13 points (33-46) early in the final period. Concordia
led by as many as 27 points (74-47) at the 5:17 mark.
Trinity shot 31 percent from the field, and went
30-49 (61 percent) at the line. Concordia hit 41 percent of its
shots, including 37 percent in 3-point range. The Tornados led
45-37 in total rebounds, and 16-6 on offensive boards. Trinity
committed twice as many turnovers as Concordia (22-11).
The Tigers will compete Friday and Saturday at the Lopata
Classic at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Trinity
takes on ninth-ranked Emory University on Friday at 6:00 p.m., then
will face host Washington (ranked fourth) at 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
The Tigers home campaign resumes Thursday, December 18, as
Trinity plays host to Whitworth University (WA) at 7:00
p.m.
