men's and women's soccer teams have earned National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Awards
for the 2013-14 academic year.
Trinity's women's team posted a
cumulative grade point average of 3.43, while the men's
recorded a mark of 3.11 for the school year.
In 2013, the Tiger women had three Capital One
Academic All-Americans, as selected by College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA). Leading the way was Emily Jorgens,
who will graduate in May from Trinity. Jorgens recently was elected
the Academic All-American of the Year for the second consecutive
time. In 2013, Jorgens also received the Elite 89 Award from the
NCAA, with the highest GPA (4.00) at the NCAA Division III
semifinals and final. Senior Kelsey Falcone joined her teammate on
this year's Capital One Academic All-American
list.
Ben Anderson '14, was elected to the 2013
Academic All-District 8 Team for the Trinity men's team.
The Trinity women's squad, led by Head
Coach Lance Key, advanced to the 2013 NCAA Championship game, held
before hometown fans at San Antonio's Toyota Field. This
season, Trinity was edged 1-0 in a double-overtime third-round
battle by Thomas More (KY) College.
Trinity's men, guided by Head Coach Paul
McGinlay, advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals in both 2013 and 2014.
Loras (IA) College beat the Tigers last season, but Trinity took
this year's third-round rematch. Wheaton (IL) College won the
quarterfinals game with the Tigers this season.
