Box Score San Antonio - Tiger senior Simon Uribe has
been selected for the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America (NSCAA) Men's College Division Scholar All-South
Region First Team for the second straight year.
Uribe is an economics and business
administration major, and holds an exemplary cumulative GPA of
3.95.
The midfielder earlier was was selected for the
NSCAA/Continental Tire Division III Men's All-West Region
First Team, the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference First
Team, and the SCAC All-Tournament Team. Uribe scored two goals
during the season, both of which were game-winners, and posted
three assists for seven points. He also led a defense that
gave up just 17 goals during the season, ranking 25th in Division
III for goals-against average (0.65).
Trinity completed the campaign with a 24-2-0
record, tying a school mark for victories in a season. The
Tigers, led by Head Coach Paul McGinlay, won a third consecutive
SCAC Championship (17th overall), and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs
for the 13th straight time (18th in the past 19 years).
In the NCAA Playoffs, Trinity fought its way to the
NCAA quarterfinals for the ninth time (second in a row), and
finished the season ranked No. 8 by the NSCAA. Coach McGinlay was
named the NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year for the second
consecutive occasion, and ninth overall.
