Lambert's Three-Pointer Lifts Trinity Past Colorado College

Box Score

San Antonio - Tiger senior Zach Lambert nailed a go-ahead three-pointer with under 10 seconds left to lift Trinity to a 52-48 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Colorado College on Saturday evening.

Trinity held a nine-point lead (25-16) early in the second half, but neither team led by more than a basket down the stretch.  Colorado took its first lead (39-38) with just under six minutes to play.

Colorado broke a 46-46 tie with a pair of free throws at the 1:16 mark, then Trinity made just 1-2 at the line on its next possession.  The TU Tigers forced a missed shot with 20 seconds left, then rushed down the floor trailing 48-47.  Lambert spotted up his straightaway three, hitting nothing but net with 9.86 seconds to play.

After a Colorado timeout, Ryan Milne got a good look for a game-winning three with under five seconds to go, but the shot rattled out, and Trinity escaped with the win.

Lambert finished with 13 points, and the game-winning triple was his first three-pointer of the night.  Robert Kitzinger led Trinity with 14 points off the bench for the TU Tigers, and also pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.

Matt Sellling knocked in nine points on 4-6 shooting from the bench, as well as pulling down five rebounds.

Milne finished with 14 points to lead Colorado College, while Justin Berardino and Russell Clark contributed 10 points each.

Trinity (13-7, 8-1 SCAC) will be back on the road next weekend, facing off against Centenary (Feb. 7) and Austin College (Feb. 8).
