nailed a go-ahead three-pointer with under 10 seconds left to lift
Trinity to a 52-48 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory
over Colorado College on Saturday evening.
Trinity held a nine-point lead (25-16) early in the second half,
but neither team led by more than a basket down the stretch.
Colorado took its first lead (39-38) with just under six
minutes to play.
Colorado broke a 46-46 tie with a pair of free throws at the
1:16 mark, then Trinity made just 1-2 at the line on its next
possession. The TU Tigers forced a missed shot with 20
seconds left, then rushed down the floor trailing 48-47.
Lambert spotted up his straightaway three, hitting nothing
but net with 9.86 seconds to play.
After a Colorado timeout, Ryan Milne got a good look for a
game-winning three with under five seconds to go, but the shot
rattled out, and Trinity escaped with the win.
Lambert finished with 13 points, and the game-winning triple was
his first three-pointer of the night. Robert
Kitzinger led Trinity with 14 points off the bench for the TU
Tigers, and also pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.
Matt Sellling knocked in nine points on 4-6 shooting from the
bench, as well as pulling down five rebounds.
Milne finished with 14 points to lead Colorado College, while
Justin Berardino and Russell Clark contributed 10 points each.
Trinity (13-7, 8-1 SCAC) will be back on the road next weekend,
facing off against Centenary (Feb. 7) and Austin College (Feb. 8).
