Tigers basketball senior guard Robert Kitzinger has been elected to
the d3hoops.com All-South Region Men's Second
Team.
The 6-foot-7, 190-pound Kitzinger led the Tigers
in scoring (16.0 points per game - sixth in the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference) and rebounding (5.1 rebounds per game - ninth
in the SCAC).
Kitzinger also was a four-time All-SCAC honoree,
including a First Team selection following the most recent
campaign. He made the Honorable Mention All-SCAC Team during his
first season (2010-11), Second Team in 2011-12, and Third Team
in 2012-13.
He led the SCAC in free throw percentage (88.2
percent) last season. Kitzinger also completed his career as
Trinity's all-time leader in 3-point field goals made (223),
the 10th-most in SCAC history. His 1,398 career points were the
23rd-highest total in the conference record books.
Last month, Kitzinger sparked the Tigers to a
third consecutive SCAC Championship and an NCAA Division III
Tournament appearance. He averaged 17.7 points per game and was
named the SCAC Tournament MVP in front of Tiger fans in Sams
Gym.
Head Coach Pat Cunningham guided Trinity to a
19-10 overall record, and an 11-3 mark in the SCAC. Following an
82-70 victory over Centenary College in the conference championship
game, the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Tournament and were edged
73-75 by Whitworth University in the first round.
Coach Cunningham, who completed his 15th season at the Tigers
helm, was selected as SCAC Co-Coach of the Year.
