The Trinity Tigers women's golf team shot a final-round
320 on Tuesday to finish in third place at the Schreiner Spring
Shootout.
Trinity chalked up a 649 two-round total at the
par-72, Club at Comanche Trace course, just two strokes behind
second-place Southwestern University. Host Schreiner University won
the team event with a 634.
Six Tiger golfers placed in the top 30 at
Trinity's spring season-opener. Hanna Niner shot 7-over-par
79 in the final round, and held the No. 3 position with a 156
total. Brigette Lee went 5-over 77 for a two-round 162 - an
improvement of eight strokes - and a tie for 12th place.
Madeline Moran posted an 83 (165 total) for 16th
place, and Christine Campbell recorded 81 (166 total) and finished
at No. 17. Alessa Hutter came in at 83 (172) for a 24th-place
finish. Yanina Soudaly, playing as an individual, improved her
score by 16 strokes, with a final-round 79 (174 total), and wrapped
up the tournament at No. 29.
Ashley Coy of Texas A&M
University-Kingsville and Gabby Davis of Schreiner tied for
medalist honors with scores of 154.
Texas A&M-Kingsville (661) finished in
fourth place, Hardin-Simmons University (669) was fifth, and Texas
Lutheran University (736) came in at No. 6.
Trinity will compete March 14-16 at the Jekyll Island
Women's Invitational at Jekyll Island, Georgia.
