Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's fifth-ranked men's
soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over #24
Washington-St. Louis University on Sunday night.
The Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season, after defeating the
College of St. Scholastica (MN) 3-1 in Friday's season opener.
Senior captain Matt Cardone earned the victory in goal for
Trinity, recording five saves to record his 22nd career shutout.
Cardone faced a total of 12 shots in the game.
First-year midfielder Brent Mandelkorn scored
the game's only goal, connecting in the 14th minute of the game.
Mandelkorn has now scored two goals in his early collegiate career.
The assist was supplied by sophomore midfielder Goncalo Santana,
who has two assists to his credit this season.
Trinity resumes play next weekend, facing off
against Hardin-Simmons (TX) University and the University of
Texas-Dallas on Friday and Saturday, September 5 and 6. The
Tigers return home on September 12, hosting Christopher Newport
(VA) University at 7:30 p.m.
