Coach Paul McGinlay Earns 400th Career Win as Tigers Defeat Texas Lutheran

Box Score

San Antonio - Head Coach Paul McGinlay led the fourth-ranked Trinity men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Texas Lutheran University on Monday night, securing his 400th career victory.

Coach McGinlay is in his 24th season with the Tigers, having taken over the program in 1991.  He entered the season with the highest winning percentage of any active men's soccer coach in the NCAA - all divisions.  Coach McGinlay led Trinity to the NCAA Division III Championship in 2003, and has reached the NCAA Semifinals three times in his tenure.

Trinity improved to 9-1-0 and 5-0-0 in SCAC play, and the Tigers garnered their sixth straight win. Texas Lutheran dropped to 3-4-2 and 1-3-1 SCAC. The two teams will meet again October 19 in Seguin, Texas.

The only scoring play of the tightly played game occurred in the 31st minute as Trinity's Emmanuel Raranje scored his first goal of the season. Goncalo Santana and Simon Uribe supplied the assists.

Goalkeeper Matt Cardone played the full 90 minutes and registered four saves in the victory.  It marked the fourth shutout of the season for the Trinity defense.

The SCAC champion Tigers continue their homestand by hosting Centenary College at 6:00 p.m. Friday, and Colorado College at noon Sunday.
