Box Score San Antonio - Head Coach Paul McGinlay led
the fourth-ranked Trinity men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over
Texas Lutheran University on Monday night, securing his 400th
career victory.
Coach McGinlay is in his 24th season with the Tigers, having
taken over the program in 1991. He entered the season with
the highest winning percentage of any active men's soccer coach in
the NCAA - all divisions. Coach McGinlay led Trinity to the
NCAA Division III Championship in 2003, and has reached the NCAA
Semifinals three times in his tenure.
Trinity improved to 9-1-0 and 5-0-0 in SCAC play, and
the Tigers garnered their sixth straight win. Texas Lutheran
dropped to 3-4-2 and 1-3-1 SCAC. The two teams will meet again
October 19 in Seguin, Texas.
The only scoring play of the tightly played game
occurred in the 31st minute as Trinity's Emmanuel Raranje
scored his first goal of the season. Goncalo Santana and Simon
Uribe supplied the assists.
Goalkeeper Matt Cardone played the full 90
minutes and registered four saves in the victory. It marked
the fourth shutout of the season for the Trinity
defense.
The SCAC champion Tigers continue their
homestand by hosting Centenary College at 6:00 p.m.
Friday, and Colorado College at noon Sunday.
