Box Score Kerrville, Texas - The Tiger men's
basketball team suffered its sixth consecutive setback with an
81-66 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road loss at
Schreiner University.
Trinity dropped to 1-15 overall this season, and 0-5 to start
conference play. Schreiner is third with a 3-2 league mark,
earning the team's 10th victory of the season.
The Tigers trailed by just three points (27-30) at the half,
despite shooting just over 30% from the field in the first 20
minutes of action. Schreiner hit nearly 46% from the floor in
the opening period, then nailed better than 58% of its shots
(14-24) in the second half. The home team also knocked down
more than 80% (21-26) from the free throw line in the final period.
After trimming a 10-point lead to just one late in the first
half, it looked like the Tigers would be able to carry some
momentum into the second period, but Schreiner scored 11 of the
first 15 points in the half and never looked back. Trinity
was within five (42-47) with 12 minutes to play, but after seven
unanswered by the Mountaineers, the lead was never less than 10 the
rest of the way.
Jimmy Clark led Trinity with 20 points off the bench, despite
playing just 19 total minutes. He hit 6-9 from the field, 2-4
from distance, and 6-7 from the foul line. Clark also picked
up five rebounds and a steal for the Tigers.
Matt Jones scored in double figures for the second straight
game, chipping in with 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Brian Blum knocked in 4-9 shots on his way to 10 points.
