Box Score Georgetown, Texas - The Trinity women's golf team shot a final-round 340 to finish third at the West Region Invitational, held at Berry Creek Country Club on Tuesday.
Sixteenth-ranked Trinity had a two-round score of 679 at the event, held for NCAA Division III teams. Top-ranked University of Texas-Tyler won the tournament with a 635, and No. 18 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor was runner-up with a 649 at the Southwestern University-hosted tournament. The Tigers finished ahead of Hardin-Simmons University, McMurry University, and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference members Schreiner University, Southwestern, Texas Lutheran University, and Centenary College.
Last year, the Tigers finished fifth as a team at the West Regional.
Hanna Niner carded 7-over-par 79 in the final round, recording Trinity's best score of the tournament. Niner improved her score by seven strokes and wrapped up at 165 for a 16th-place finish. Alessa Hutter played as an individual and also tied for 16th, with a final-round 83. Brigette Lee tied for 22nd place with an 86, and a 170 total. Madeline Moran and Taylor Moser tied for the No. 29 position with 173s. Moran shot a second-round 86, and Moser made 91. Shelby Devore stood alone at No. 36 with an 89, and a 180 two-round total.
Jordan Sloane of Texas-Tyler took individual honors with a 4-over 76, and a 155 total.
The Tigers will head to Blanco, Texas, for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship April 20-21. Trinity won the 2014 title at Boerne, Texas.
