Trinity Men Record SCAC Shutout to Kick Off 2015 Season

Box Score

San Antonio - The sixth-ranked Trinity Tigers men's soccer team opened the season and defense of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship by edging Schreiner University on Tuesday night.

Senior All-American Tom Carwile supplied the only goal of the tightly played match-up by firing in a penalty kick in the 58th minute of play. Senior goalkeeper Chad Margotta guarded the Tigers' net for the full 90 minutes, and recorded four crucial saves.

Head Coach Paul McGinlay began his 25th season at the helm of the Tigers. He now stands at 20-4-1 in season-openers, as the Tigers have won their last six opening games.

Trinity will take on two teams over Labor Day Weekend, starting with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges at 6:00 p.m. Friday. The Tigers then meet seventh-ranked Brandeis (MA) University at 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
