Colorado Springs, Colorado - The top-ranked Trinity men's soccer team lost its second consecutive game of the season in dropping a 3-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference decision to Colorado College Sunday afternoon.
Trinity (5-2-0, 1-2-0 SCAC) fell 1-0 to the University of Dallas on Friday afternoon. Sunday's loss marked the first time since the 2011 season the Tigers came up short for two games in a ow.
Colorado College (4-1-2, 2-0-1 SCAC) opened the scoring in the 36th minute of play. Trinity's Callum Squires tied the game in the 76th minute with an open-net goal off the cross from Jorge Villamarin. Squires recorded his first goal of the season, and Villamarin posted his initial assist of the campaign.
The Colorado Tigers scored two goals within 19 seconds in the 83rd minute to pull ahead 3-1, though, finishing off the win. Chad Margotta played goalkeeper the entire 90 minutes, and chalked up a career-high 10 saves. He now stands tied for fourth place in Trinity's single-game saves category. Colorado College led Trinity 23-11 in total shots, and 13-5 in shots on the mark.
Trinity resumes its SCAC schedule Friday, September 25, by hosting Centenary College at 8:00 p.m.
