San Antonio - Tiger first-year midfielder Chelsea Cole and junior defender Jordan Leeper have been honored as the respective Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.
Cole and Leeper played major roles in second-ranked Trinity's three shutout home victories over the week. Trinity blanked the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 3-0, took out Centenary College 11-0, and had a clean-sheet 5-0 win over Austin College.
Cole produced the first four goals of her early collegiate career. She scored two goals against Centenary College, and one each in the Mary Hardin-Baylor and Austin College matchups.
Leeper anchored a taut Tiger defense which permitted only 10 total shots in the three games. Trinity has allowed only two goals in nine games this season, seven of which have been shutouts. Contributing to the offensive cause, the versatile Leeper has scored three goals, with two game-winners, and shelled out three assists.
Trinity stands undefeated at 8-0-1 and 4-0-0 in SCAC play. The Tigers will host the University of Texas-Dallas in a non-conference game at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 29.
