#3 Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day With Shutout

San Antonio - The third-ranked Trinity women's soccer team closed out its regular-season home slate with a 12-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory Sunday afternoon over Centenary (LA) College.

MATCH SUMMARY

Trinity piled up nine goals in the first half of play, which is the highest single-game output of the season for the Tiger women.

Yasmeen Farra scored two of the first three goals, including the eventual game-winner in the 10th minute.  Brigitte Taylor assisted on both goals.

Julia Camp made it 2-0 Tigers with an unassisted goal in the 17th minute.

Farra's second goal started a scoring frenzy for Trinity, which netted four goals in just under five minutes to make it a 6-0 game.  Colleen Markey, Tierney Thomison, and Julia Kelly joined Farra in scoring the goals. Hannah Booher and Jordan Leeper were credited with assists, while Taylor also picked up an assist - her third of the game.

In the 37th minute, Thomison netted her second goal of the game, followed by a goal from Leeper on a free kick in the 39th minute.  Markey was credited with an assist on the Thomison goal.

Chelsea Cole finished the first-half scoring with less than three minutes on the clock, scoring on a corner from Leeper - her second assist.

Allison Carter scored two of the three goals in the second half, while Nicole Gardini finished the scoring with 33 seconds left.  Kali Dawson, Alice von Ende-Becker, and Jordan Bethea all had assists, while Gaby Galan had two assists on the final three scores.

 

NOTABLES

The undefeated Tigers increased their record to 14-0-0, and 8-0-0 SCAC, while Centenary dropped to 5-9-0 and 2-8-0 with the loss.

The Tigers registered a season-high 12 goals. Trinity's last 12-goal game occurred in the 2007 season.

Trinity posted its eighth consecutive shutout, and the 11th of the season.

Yasmeen Farra scored her third game-winner of the season. Farra's second goal was her ninth of the campaign.

Julia Camp has amassed a team-best 10 goals, and 27 points. Camp is tied with Brigitte Taylor for the lead in assists, as both players have seven assists on the year.

Brigitte Taylor set a career single-game high with three assists. Taylor now has 25 assists in her career, which puts her in a tie with Michelle Grambeau (2006-08) for 12th all-time at Trinity.

Seven seniors were honored prior to their last regular-season home game: Janie Thompson, Brigitte Taylor, Jordan Leeper, Yasmeen Farra, Allison Carter, Hannah Hommel, and Nicole Gardini.

 

UP NEXT

The Tigers continue their SCAC campaign on Friday, October 21, and Sunday, October, 23, against Southwestern (TX) University and Texas Lutheran University, respectively.
