Box Score Georgetown - The Tiger football team had a two-game win streak snapped in a 20-7 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road loss to Southwestern (TX) University on Saturday afternoon.
GAME SUMMARY
Southwestern got the scoring started with a touchdown on its first possession, driving 79 yards on 13 plays to take a 7-0 lead. The Pirates drove into the red zone on its next drive, but the Tiger defense held, forcing a short field goal to make it a 10-0 game early in the second quarter.
Defense was the name of the game in the second quarter, as both teams struggled to move the ball. After the field goal, the teams combined for five consecutive three-and-out drives.
A short Trinity punt gave Southwestern the ball near midfield, and the Pirates marched back into the red zone again. A penalty and a sack pushed Southwestern back, and they settled for another field goal to make it 13-0 at the half.
The third quarter started with a bang, as Southwestern connected on a long pass play, but Tiger cornerback Joshua Cook stripped the ball out at the 10, and it went out of the end zone for a touchback to keep it a 13-0 game.
That score was short-lived, though, as the Pirates intercepted a pass on Trinity's ensuing drive, returning it 47 yards for the touchdown.
Trinity's defense gave up just six yards over the next eight Southwestern drives, though, keeping the team in the game. Offensively, the Tigers continued to struggle, though, and the deficit proved to be too much.
Davis King drove Trinity 71 yards in six plays late in the fourth quarter to avoid the shutout, connecting with Jon Sorey for a four-yard touchdown pass.

Luke Packard broke the Trinity single season sacks record in the game, eclipsing a 23-year-old mark set by John Tobola (1990-93). Tobola's 12.5 sacks in 1993 earned him All-America honors at the end of the season.
Packard finished the game with eight total tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks for a loss of 11 yards. He is also just one sack from tying the Tiger career record of 25.5 sacks, set by Jarrod Smith (2000-03).
