Tiger Volleyball Headed to UT-Dallas for NCAA Regionals

San Antonio - The 16th-ranked Trinity volleyball team will compete in the eight-squad NCAA Division III Regional starting Friday in Richardson, Texas, at the University of Texas-Dallas.

Trinity (27-7) meets #25 Hendrix (AR) College (24-7) in the first round at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The winner plays either third-ranked UT-Dallas (30-2) or Whitworth (WA) University (21-5) at 4:00 p.m. Saturday.  

Fifth-ranked Southwestern (TX) University (30-4) meets #19 University of La Verne (CA) (22-6), and #4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges (23-3) takes on sixth-ranked Colorado College (27-5) in the other match-ups.

The Regional final is slated for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The winner advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals, to  be held November 17 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The Semifinals and Championship are scheduled for November 18-19 at Oshkosh, as the 64-team event is completed.

Trinity earned its NCAA berth by winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship with a 3-1 victory over Southwestern. The win clinched the 18th SCAC title for the Tigers, and the third in the last four seasons.

This year's NCAA Tournament will mark the 22nd overall appearance for the Tigers.  It is the first since 2014, when Trinity advanced to the Round of 16 for the 12th time.  Trinity is led by Head Coach Julie Jenkins, who is in her 32nd season in charge of the Tiger volleyball program.
