Box Score Redlands, California - The Trinity men's basketball team concluded the Lee Fulmer Memorial Classic with a 95-77 loss to the University of La Verne (CA) Saturday night.
GAME SUMMARY
The Tigers never led in the game, and La Verne took a 47-35 lead at the intermission. Trinity shot under 40% from the field in the period, while La Verne hit nearly 52% of its shots to build the big lead.
Trinity was within four points (30-34) with 4:09 remaining in the first, but La Verne finished with a 13-5 run in the period.
The Tigers cut the lead to eight by scoring two quick buckets to start the second half, but the Leopards answered with eight straight points, and the extended run put the lead to 20 points (65-45) with 14:03 remaining.
La Verne's largest lead came with 6:30 remaining, as Trinity trailed by 30 points at 57-87. The Tigers did finish strong with a 20-8 run.
NOTABLES
Trinity dropped its fourth straight game, and now stands at 2-5 on the season. The Tigers opened the event Friday at the University of Redlands, and were edged 63-60 by the host Bulldogs. La Verne improved to 3-1.
A.J. Pulliam led the game with a season-high of 18 points. Pulliam shot 7-16 from the field, and sank 3-3 free throws.
Jayden Holden came off the bench and scored 11 points in just 16 minutes of action, connecting on 5-8 from the floor.
Matthew Colliflower tied for the matchup's lead in rebounds, pulling in seven boards to go with nine points.
The Tigers shot 36.6%, and the Leopards hit 55.4% of their shots. La Verne led 18-8 in points off turnovers, and the La Verne bench outscored the Tiger subs 51-33.
