Box Score Peoria, Arizona - The 26th-ranked Trinity women's golf team shot a final-round 302 to finish in fourth place at the eight-team George Fox Westbrook Invitational on Sunday.
"The girls played great," said Head Coach Carla Spenkoch. "It was a real team effort against some of the top-ranked schools in the country. It was a big confidence builder for the next tournament."
Trinity bettered its first-round score by 11 strokes and completed the two-day event with a 615 total. George Fox (OR) University hosted the tournament at the par-71 Westbrook Village Golf Club - Lakes Course. Third-ranked George Fox emerged as the winner by one stroke over No. 9 University of Texas-Tyler. Sixth-ranked University of Redlands (CA) came in at No. 3. The Tigers are ranked No. 26, and finished ahead of two higher-rated teams, #20 Gustavus Adolphus (MN) College, and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference member #25 Schreiner University.
Brigette Lee shot a final-round 75, and finished tied for eighth place with a 9-over-par 151. Taylor Moser lowered her score by six strokes, and produced Trinity's best round, with a 2-over 73. Moser carded 152 and tied for 11th place. Shelby Devore also showed an improvement, by shooting 75, five strokes better than her opening round. DeVore finished in a tie for the No. 16 position at 155. Hanna Niner completed the tournament in 19th place with a 157, after scoring 79 in Sunday's round. Christine Campbell shot a 79, for a 160 total, and tied for 21st place.
The Tigers will next compete in the DIII National Spring Preview April 4-5 in Houston, Texas.
