Houston, Texas - The 24th-ranked Trinity women's golf team shot a final-round 331 to finish in fourth place at the highly competitive DIII National Spring Preview on Tuesday.

Trinity completed the two-round event with a total of 664 at the par-72 Bay Oaks Country Club course. The Tigers beat out #18 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor by one stroke, and finished ahead of two other higher-ranked teams.  Seventh-ranked University of Texas-Tyler won the tournament with a two-day score of 616.

Five of the six Tiger golfers finished in the top 30 individually. Hanna Niner shot a final-round 4-over-par 76, and improved her opening score by eight strokes. Niner finished in eighth place with a 160. Brigette Lee, Taylor Moser, and Emilee Strausburg tied for 23rd place, with 168s. Lee shot an 84 for the second straight round, and Moser carded an 87. Strausburg played as an individual, and bettered her score by six strokes, with 81. Shelby DeVore tied for 30th place, after shooting 84, for a 170 total.

"The girls really pulled through today, and beat some higher ranked teams," said Head Coach Carla Spenkoch. "They played well on a tough course. We are looking forward to conference."

The Tigers will prepare for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, to be held April 18-19 at Vaaler Creek Golf Club, in Blanco, Texas. Trinity finished as runner-up at last year's event. Qualifiers will advance to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships, to be held May 10-13 at Bay Oaks Country Club.
